1. What we collect

Account data

Name, email address, and authentication credentials when you create an account.

Usage data

VINs you look up, vehicles you track, searches you run, and features you use. This powers your personalized feed and improves our pricing models.

Payment data

Billing is handled entirely by Stripe. CarGence never stores your full card number. We store only the Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Device and log data

IP address, browser type, pages visited, and crash logs for security and debugging purposes.

2. How we use your data

To provide, operate, and improve the CarGence Service
To personalize your feed and vehicle recommendations
To send transactional emails (receipts, alerts, account notices)
To detect fraud, abuse, and security threats
To improve our AI pricing and recommendation models using aggregated, de-identified patterns

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with dealers, manufacturers, or advertising networks.

3. Third-party services

ClerkAuthentication and session management

StripePayment processing — subject to Stripe's privacy policy

AnthropicAI text generation — queries may be used to improve their models per Anthropic's policy

AWSHosting, database, and infrastructure

MarketCheck / VINAuditVehicle market data and VIN decoding — VINs you look up are sent to these APIs

4. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud records, billing disputes).

5. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Children

CarGence is not directed to users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified via email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
